READ MORE Shinseki vows 21st-century service to veterans Retired Army Gen. Eric K. Shinseki took the oath of office Jan. 21 as the nation's seventh secretary of Veterans Affairs. READ MORE Rep. King introduces Jobs for Veterans Act Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., introduced the Jobs for Veterans Act, H.R. 620, into Congress on Jan. 22. His bill offers a tax incentive to businesses that hire Iraq and Afghanistan veterans.
